Symposium of has been realized by Girne American University  Higher School of Transportation and Marine with a topic of “Where is TRNC situated in the Developing Freight, Transportation and Logistics sector of the World” .


The panel which was actualized in GAU Millennium Senate Congress Hall was participated by Dörgazi logistics administrator Hasan Dörtgazi, Captain Osman Eryaşar, Özkıraç Shipping representative Yıltan Özkıraç, Zeki Ziya on behalf of Cyprus Xp, GAU Higher School of Marine and Logistics Captain Efdal Safel  as spokespersons.


The Administrator of Transportation and Public Works Ministry Hasan Erkol, Presidents of Marine and Ports Department Serdal Can Altay, GAU students, Marine/Land Transportation and also individuals as representatives in serving for logistics have showed great interest in the panel.


Efdal SAFEL: Logistics and Transportation are Propellants against Embargos.
Head of Business Department of Faculty of Business and Economy Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Saydam has moderatored the panel which was broadcasted by GAU TV.


Safel begun his speech through stating the aim of the panel which had been cooperated by Girne American University (GAU) Higher School of Transportation and Marine and GAU Marine and Logistics club was to emphasize the problems faced by the TRNC transportation, freight and logistics and the method of assessment of thereof by the scientific opinion leaders of the sector and had also underlined the importance of the unity with those opinion leaders whom continue their carriers in the sector  after the graduation.


Safel pointing out that there will be significant resultants to be revealed after the panel had also ehphasized that he would be sharing these results of GAU Transportations and Marine High School with the students and the relevant parties in order to contribute for the solutions of the problems faced by the transportation and logistics.


Safel also stated that the sector of transportation and logistics have bi-dimension of national and international also added that transportation and logistics have strategic significancy in undermining the embergos and finally underlined that logistics and transportation are propellants against embargos.


Zeki ZİYA: “The Problems Faced in Logistics are Indications of those faced in the State Economy”
Zeki Ziya, President of Cyprus XP Administration Board has emphasized that the problems faced in logistics are Indications of those faced in the state economy also stated that all relevant parties must indeed do self-criticism on the negative effects caused by the embergos. Ziya also emphasized on the must broad discussionon the implementations undertaken through out the years since 1980s and the mistakes implemented and also the reasons behind for the international vessels not to touch the ports of TRNC.


Osman ERYAŞAR: “Non-Recognition; The Utmost Problem”
Captain Osman Eryaşar of Fergün Denizcilik (Maritime) have pulled attention to the utmost problems faced in transportation and logistcs due to the political nonrecognition his speech and added on that nonrecognition is a significant barrier in professionalism and international competition. Eryaşar also stating that there had been a struggle against the noncognition yet also underlined that there are limitations proposed by the law and internationally registered vessels are not able use the ports of TRNC due to the taxations thus at a level of been recognised we as a state do also implement some negations that results in disadvantage on the advertisement of the country and restricts the great amount of flow of tourist to the country via seaway.


Yıltan ÖZKIRAÇ: “The Infrastructural Deficiencies of the Ports must be Resolved”
Yıltan Özkıraç as an Özkıraç Shipping representative has stated in the panel that the leading problems been non-recognized and has also added that the sector is contributing significantly for the development. Özkiraç further addressed about the problems caused by the deficiencies occurred in the infrastructure of the ports thus this slowing down or restricting the development. In regards to this, it is stresses much loss for these deficiencies to be resolved by Turkey or South Cyprus on behalf of TRNC.


Hasan DÖRTGAZİ: “Logistics is been Responsible for Manufacturing as well as Consumption”Business administrator of Dörtgazi logistics Hasan Dörtgazi has explained that logistics is been responsible for manufacturing as well as consumption. Dörtgazi also pulled attention to the point that the sector of TRNC transportation and logistics to be international is yet be possible with cooperation Turkey in means of activities, as well the reason for having no relations with other countries is due to the embargos. After the restriction of travelling to other countries with the aid of temporary TR plate numbers there are now no possible way to lift the effect of the embargos. Dörtgazi emphasized that the domestic transportation and logistics sector was operated via jigsaw-puzzles and he also underlined that the sector will not develop with the current politics of daily basis.
