Girne American University Cultural Heritage Administration Movement is preparing to complete and contribute -one of the historical projects- the Great Hammam (public bath) restoration to the Turkish Cypriot society and to tourism service.


Girne American University Cultural Heritage Administration Movement has come to an end in the restoration of the Historical Great Hammam which was one of the projects progressed and aimed to protect the heritage of community and culture and convey to the future.


The statement emphasized that the works of GAU Cultural Heritage Administration Movement are in progress in order to protect the cultural and historical heritage, originally kept restoration to hereof and  to contribute tourism in aim of benefiting community and the public through GAU academic staff science persons of Architect, Urban Designator, Interior Architect, Lawyer, Tourism expert, Sociologist, Social Psychologist and Urban Developer, and also stated that the university is an important exemplary for the collaboration of the community and the productivity of the university towards the benefits of the community.

The procedure of restoration and re-contribution to the public via tourism of the Great Hammam - an important historical heritage for the community and a witness to the history of the community- which had been presented as a comprehensive project by the GAU Cultural Heritage Administration to the Foundation Directorate and The Historical Great Hammam will also be open to public after the official ceremony.


The Founder Rector of the GAU Cyprus- Girne Campus Presidency Office and Chancellor of Administrators Council Serhat Akpınar will inform the public and Cyprus Turkish Media about the progressing and completed projects and the aims and purposes of the Cultural Heritage administration in respect to the participation of the State authorities, GAU Cultural Heritage authorities, academic and administrative staff to the opening ceremony of the Historical Great Hammam project which will be held on December 12, 2012 Wednesday.




It has also been stated that the public, relevant authorities and civil society organizations can access the works of the Cultural Heritage Movement in relation to the Great Hammam via ww.grandturkishhamam.com.
