While been active as director in Girne American College  under Girne Group of Schools after retiring from his duty of Directorate of 19 Mayıs College, untimely loss of Cyprus Turkish world of education the late Salih Sonel will be remembered in the fencing tournament memorial.

The  2nd Salih Sonel Fencing Memorial Tournament will be held at Girne American College Kyrenia Campus Indoor Sports Hall by TRNC Fencing Federation.

The tournament was held under branches of foil and sword, with two branches and 40 sportsmen.

The awards to be presented to the ranking competitors of the 2nd Salih Sonel Fencing Memorial Tournament by the late Salih Sonel’s wife Yeşim Sonel, Former President of Fencing Federation Erhan Vechi and the Dean of GAU Education Faculty Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saadettin Yıldız.
