Gau Is Producing For Karpaz Nature And People

While the construction works of the Girne American University Karpaz Campus is still on process, GAU Apiculture Research Development and Implementation Centre is continuing to serve the local people.

GAU Apiculture Research Development and Implementation Centre is attracting great interest with the free of charge Apiculture Workshops which intend to provide development of Apiculture, rehabilitate and protect bees of Cyprus race, explains the importance of the bees for the fauna and the flora to the local people as well as in means of been established and serving for the reason of creating an opportunity of economic yield for the local people by providing relevant occupation.

Beside the lectures provided within the classrooms of GAU Karpaz (Yaşam) Campus- Dipkarpaz Village Public Relations and Project Office, visits of the locals and specially the children for the bee tank and the glass hive which had been situated in the office are also taking place.

Hüseyin Balkaya, authorized personnel for the centre, has explained further about the apiculture courses and stated that the local people are showing great interest in the theoretical apiculture education which had begun in Dipkarpaz.  Balkaya also added on that beside of providing the trainees about the general apiculture history, anatomic and physiologic structure of the bee, bee genetics, bee races, artificial insemination, seasonal bee maintenance, honey based plants and pollination, bee rehabilitation, protecting bees from agricultural pest control products, honey production and harvest, production and preservation of  pollen-royal jelly- bee venom, reproduction of beeswax and bee pest and pestilential and also there is  the glass observation hive which had been situated in the balcony of the Karpaz Apiculture Research Development and Implementation Centre office and where bees’ works  are been observed practically by the trainees.

After the apiculture training, distributing the free hives to the locals, the productions of the locals will change the visage of Karpaz after commencing the apiculture and Balkaya have emphasized that after the commence f the works in the region, Karpaz flora and fauna will develop natural way of productivity.

Beside of the theoretical training the practical training will be the next step, said Balkaya and added on by stating that explaining the importance of the bees with the aid of the trainings to the locals and granting them the awareness of protecting the bees will be an important step towards protecting the Karpaz nature, and yet allowing the children to protect Karpaz is only achievable by allowing them to grow up with the awareness of the nature.
