The Schools Group of Ministry of Education fencing championship of Turkey organised by Shool Sports Federation of Turkey was held on 22-24 May 2012 in Gaziantep. On the first day of the championship the TRNC Schools Group won a silver medal in women’s sword category.

Eda Hasizmirli a pupil at the Girne American College played in the final and won a silver medal.

Mine Ergüz and Ömer Aydın, trainers of the TRNC Fencing Team said that the sportspersons of the country had worked hard to be successful and their aim was to play the final in the future and to bring the chmpionship cup to the country.

The TRNC Schools Group will return to the country on Thursday afternoon.
