“I entered GAU creepily, I graduated from GAU by walking on my feet, and now I am running”

President and Coordinator of Graduates Institution of North Cyprus Banu Türkel said that she can’t forget the years that she lived in GAU:

Girne American University’s (GAU) one of the first graduates, Graduates Institution of North Cyprus, Coordinator and President of the GAU Unity Banu Türkel said these in her statement about the meeting that she held with the Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board of Administrators Serhat Akpınar. She emphasized that she is happy with this meeting as a 1993 graduate, and she emphasized that GAU’s growing, improving and being a university in the worldwide fills her with pride and she said that “I entered GAU creepily, I exit from GAU by walking, and now I am running”.

 

Türkel expressed that their meeting that they held with Graduates Institution of North Cyprus General Coordinator Müjdat Çaroğlu and Founding Rector Serhat Akpınar excited her. Türkel explained the works of Graduates Institution of North Cyprus as a GAU President of Unity and institution coordinator.

 

GAU is a world university

 

She indicated that GAU where they graduated is a good label for them with GAU’s international campuses and with the number of students which exceeds 15 thousands. Therefore, they want to support their university with different works within the frame of institution platform as graduates. Banu Türkel as one of the first graduates of GAU expressed that she was affected in this meeting and she expressed that even so many years have passed, the years that she studied in GAU is always alive inside of her.

 

 “I am impressed by the words of Akpınar”

 

Banu Türkel impressed from Akpınar’s these words: “Beyond going to the past and those memories, coming together with our new graduates, you and our first graduates excites me and I feel an unbelievable emotion difference. I think that seeing set of values and the family between our students and our graduates nested, is the best inner reflection of ours. Especially with a different mission they came with a very good formation for reflecting the higher education at every level in the island regarding our graduates. I congratulate them.” And she summarized her emotions like this:

 

 “I owe so many things to this university”

 

I graduated in 1993 but the most important factor is that we breathe the same air and I am the one of the first graduates. This communication and this electric undertake me a different mission to take part in this platform and I came this island with different mission. We owe so many things to this university. We have started with a little building and we continue without rupture from Cyprus with the same friendship. I recommend everyone to come to Cyprus, I came here creepily, exit by walking and now I am running.”
