Stressing that Girne American University sees Maritime as Turk`s National Ideal and continues its work in this direction, Efdal Safel, stated that "We celebrate the June 25 Maritime Day, celebrated with increasing enthusiasm of the sailors and maritime sector, of all our sailors and sea laborers, who lives in the sound of the sea`s wave, lose their heart to sea, maritime and to sailor; remember everyone who contributed to maritime with respect."

Efdal Safel, stated the followings at the message he published because of the Maritime Day;

GAU`s vision and mission

While seeing maritime as Turk`s national ideal and carrying its works in this direction, Girne American University Higher School of Maritime and Transportation (GAU-DUYO) carries out its work in line with its vision and mission, without fearing any sacrifice. As in the studies made until today, GAU-DUYO will continue its work hereupon in accordance with international conventions in order to ensure a completion of the shortcomings of the national legislation, that our sailors are working in better conditions and to ensure a better education and understanding of the unseen face of the life of sailors by the society.

Maritime sector in load transportation

Even it cannot be seen, the 85 percent of the world`s load transportation business is carried out by maritime sector and the mission of ensuring that the other half of the community understands the struggle of the more than a half million sailors, who operates this economic phenomenon according to the records of IMO (International Maritime Organization) and are in the sea, and the lives of their families will continue to take first place among GAU-DUYO missions. Hereby, we celebrate June 25 World Maritime Day of all our sailors. God give safety to all sailors. I would like to share a word of our valuable teacher Halit Gürdeniz, who is resting eternally at the moment, with the idea that it would be suitable to the meaning of the day: “My God, your sea is so big and we are so little; never deprive us from your patronage.”
