37 Global Agreements From GAU

Girne American University (GAU) continues to share its scientific knowledge of 25 years in higher education with world universities with workshops, conferences, scientific works and signed academic cooperation agreements in 2009-2010 academic year, in which it celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Academic cooperation agreements were signed with 37 universities that provide education in Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Middle East, Central Asia and Africa at the end of the International Higher Education Workshop that was held at GAU Cyprus Karmi Campus.

While the signature ceremony, which was held at Karmi Campus Millennium Complex Senate Floor broke new grounds as a record with 37 international academic agreements in a day, Founding Rector and Chairman of the Board of Directors of GAU Serhat Akpınar, Vice Chairman Asım Vehbi and Rector Prof. Dr. Yıldırım Öner signed the agreements.

Making a historical signature on behalf of world and TRNC higher education, GAU announced that rectors of 37 universities put their signatures on the protocols on behalf of their universities.

“Aim is to make academic cooperation with 100 world universities as well as Turkish universities” According to the information given from Founding Rector and Chairman of the Board of Diectors of GAU Serhat Akpınar, the process that was initiated with the aim of making academic cooperation with 100 world universities as well as Turkish universities in its 25th year of establishment, the process includes student and academics exchange, joint curriculum, joint project and research as well as joint investment.

The completion of the preparations of the process, which was initiated by Founding Rector and Chairman of the Board of Directors of GAU Serhat Akpınar, and signing 37 Global Academic Cooperation Agreements in a day after the protocols were composed were highlighted in the statement that was made from Girne American University Chairmanship Office, while it was underlined that GAU had initiated an important process on behalf of composing universal values in higher education except for the global movement with “3 Islands Single University” vision of GAU.

In the statement the importance of universal movement awareness in higher education and creating values were pointed and it was stated that the signed academic cooperation agreements created important expansion opportunities for the higher education and universities of the country and Turkey.
