GAU 2015 Spring Festival Begins

2015 Spring Festivals, which is carried out with the cooperation of Girne American University (GAU) and Sister University Cyprus American University, themed "Peace and Health" and under the main sponsorship of Telsim, began.

 

GAU CEO and Vice Chancellor of the Board Assist. Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi, Health, Sports and Culture Department Türkay Akpınar, Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Sadık Ülker, Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Ağdelen, Academic Administrative Staff as well as students attended to the opening ceremony of GAU 2015 Spring Festivals, which was held in Girne American University (GAU) Spectrum International Congress Hall,

 

Prof. Dr. Sadık Ülker stated the followings in the speech he performed at the opening ceremony;

 

“This year, we welcome the spring festival, with the theme of "Peace and Health", which benefits to our universities 30th Anniversary. We need to have respect for everyone`s ideas and somehow we need to embrace everyone`s thoughts without forcibly imposing our ideas to anyone. I hope you get benefit from the festivals and also add this year`s spring festival to your memories.” 

 

A causerie took place with the participation of Doğan Hızlan, Hurriyet newspaper columnist, and Hami Çağdaş, Hurriyet Show Magazine editor, following the opening ceremony of Spring Festivals. In the causerie, held with the moderation of GAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Oguz Karakartal, while Hurriyet newspaper writer and critic Doğan Hızlan expressed his thoughts on criticism, culture and art, Hurriyet Show Magazine editor Hami Çağdaş interpreted the concepts of tolerance and peace in his speech.

 

 

The opening of GAU Lympic festival area was performed after the opening ceremony and causerie.

      

In the statement made by GAU about the subject, it was stated that along with the GAU Beauty Contest, which will be held on Tuesday, 5 May 2015 and is held every year traditionally within 2015 Spring Festivals, a lot of club activities and various music groups will take the stage.
