Nicosia Leman Kültür (LMK), which operates under Girne American University (GAU) in the Derboyu, was first considered 21 years ago as an area that may contribute to the cultural development of the city with a variety of cultural and artistic events, and as a place where employees of the Leman magazine can meet up. With this idea, it transformed into the show place of magazine cartoonists and artists including especially Cem Yılmaz, Ata Demirel and Mehmet Esen. LMK Nicosia was opened as the 14th branch in 2013 and has a total of 18 branches today.

The interview performed with Business Manager of Leman Kültür Nicosia Beytullah May is as follows:

* With the brand name in Turkey, Leman Culture, settled quite well on the Dereboyu Street in Cyprus. How was the interest from the first moment it opened with the brand’s name?

We realized the opening ceremony on July 30, 2013. We already attracted great interest because of our concept. Other than that, we come to the fore with our young clientele population and very intense, dynamic staff. As the Nicosia LMK, we have 110 food and 185 different drinks diversity and finally, we have developed special menus as "Experimental Gatana of Athletes" for sports enthusiasts, which has been lacking in the food industry. We also added Cypriot cuisine dishes to our menu and we will continue to add different tastes in the future. LMK Nicosia was awarded the prize of "Best Bar" with the assessment made by headquarters. We offer our customers the weekly published LMK magazine free of charge. Moreover, our customers can buy original LMK souvenirs or LMK publications from check counters.

* You meet with public at concerts. What do you do in these events?

We have DJ performances on Wednesday. We create "Time Machine" concept within the scope of these performances. Within this concept 80’s and 90’s music performances move in a flow to present. In addition we organize karaoke nights on Saturdays at Dereboyu. Currently we have the distinction of being the only place with karaoke venue. We plan to realize different acoustic concerts with the arrival of summer days and warm weather.

Leman Kültür is a place with the ability to entertain people even while eating something. Even our menus are quite different, enjoyable and fun from most businesses. A place that won’t give people the opportunity to get bored...

* At the same time you support social responsibility projects. What do you want to say about them?

We support many social responsibility projects. One of them was our "Su-Suyorum Konuşamıyorum” project. We hosted various concerts and activities under the project. With the income of tickets, waterier and feeders was provided to animals living on the streets. Our latest event, government officials and 39 non-governmental organizations supported us. Also, this past year, we held a moral meal for children of Yeşilyurt Special Education Center within the scope of social responsibility projects.
