Girne American University added a new agreement to its international academic cooperation agreements. The academic cooperation agreement with Al-Isra, one of the leading universities of Jordan was signed by Asım Vehbi, the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the GAU and Prof. Numan Ahmad Elkhatib, the Rector, on behalf of Al-Isra University.

The agreement, while covering academic programmes and exchange of academics and students, provides Jordanian students and scholars with the right of studying and training at the Intercontenental Campuses of the GAU.

Vice-Chancellor Asım Vehbi who, after the signing ceremony held at the Al-Isra University campus, was received by Maher Fathi Al-Galaiyini, the founder of the university, gave important statements to the GAU TV Topical News in connection with the agreement.

Asım Vehbi: “With this agreement the GAU expands its impact on the Middle Eastern Higher Education Institutions.”

Pointing out to the expansion of the influence of the Girne American University on institutions of higher education in the Middle East, Vehbi stressed that through this agreement, GAU, with its International Campuses had opened the doors of global education to the students and academics of Joran and the Middle East.

Expressing the fact that beside the agreement which provides Jordanian and Middle Eastern students and academics with the possibility of continuing their education at the GAU campuses in England, Singapore and the USA, the previously signed cooperation agreements with universities of Jordan and the region would also contribute to the promotion of the country and abolition of sanctions, Vehbi pointed out that when GAU celebrated its 25th anniversary of its higher education in the academic year 2009-2010, the question of confirmation of equivalence published by the Jordanian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the official Internet site: wwww.mohe.gov.jo. address, the academic programmes and equivalence of the GAU diplomas were confirmed by the EU and USA and later approved by the important countries of the Middle Eastern countries and Jordan.

Quoting Prof. Numan Ahmad Elkhatib as saying in the agreement ceremony that the international campuses and educational structure of the GAU were closely examined by the Middle Eastern countries, and the GAU was a well-known and important university in the Middle East, Vehbi pointing out to the importance of the fact that students and academics studying at the North Cyprus and international campuses of the GAU, would return to their countries as honourary ambassadors of the TRNC and would explain the facts of the country to the world, stressed that the continuation of the academic cooperation of the GAU with more than 120 countries, beside its educational dimensions, would contribute to the TRNC in cultural,economic and social spheres.
