2nd Turkish Film Days Has Ended

Professional Association of Film Producers (FIYAB) supported by The Turkish Minister for Culture and Tourism, Lefkosa Turkish Municipality and Girne American University’s collaboration of the 2nd “Turkish Film Days” in TRNC has ended.

Cypriot cinema lovers had the opportunity of watching great examples of Turkish Films like A Country Matter (Memleket Meselesi), September (Eylül), Love Likes Coincidences (Aşk Tesadüfleri Sever), 72nd Wing (72. Koğuş) and Zephyre (Zefir) in the 2nd Turkish Film Days, which ended with a panel with theatre and film actress Gorkem Yeltan who is one of the leading actresses in September.

Film producer of A Country Matter Isa Yildiz, players Tuna Orhan and Bora Akkas along with Şebnem Sönmez, Ümit Bülent Dinçer and Ayda Akser of Love Likes Coincidences took part in free pales and shows, while Gorkem Yeltan, a leading theatre and Cinema actor in September met with Cypriot Cinema lovers in the Girne American Universities Senate Congress Hall located in the Millennium Complex.

Moderators of the panel were Doç. Dr. Neriman Saygılı and Dr. İzlem Ali Kanlı which was broadcasted alive by GAU TV.

`We have experienced great interest of Cypriot cinemagoers`

Mr. Yeltan informed us that it was a great pleasure for him to attend the panels as well as the other activities that were associated with the 2nd Turkish Film Days organized by Girne American University as they experienced great interest throughout the festival.

Mr. Yeltan stated that the high energy of all students, especially of those from the Communication and Literature students held prospects for artistic productions in the field from upcoming producers.

“We are unable to explain in International Festivals why children’s films are not produced in Turkey”.

Yeltan went on to explain that Turkish artists have a difficult time in international festivals and panels explaining why children’s films are not produced in Turkey, and indicated the importance of children’s films and serials in the sector. His interest relates to being producer of children’s literature and children’s books.

Yeltans answered questions posed by both GAU student and cinema goers about the difficult character he portrayed in the September film after the panel.

Prof. Dr. Şermin Tekinalp, Communication Faculty Dean presented Gorkem Yeltan with a thank you plaket.
