Orientation

Orientation is a course aiming to help new students get accustomed to the university life, learn about the social and sports activities and get the essential information about key facilities of the University, rules and regulations, immigration procedures.

Orientation consists of 10 various activities, some of them obligatory and the others free elective. Every student is given a form with 10 squares for activities to be stamped by the officials. The time for completing all activities is until the end of the semester. The forms then are returned to the university to be graded. The grading system is as follows:

  • The general orientation is where all new comers get key information about the campus, transportation, rules and regulations, dormitories, cafeterias, immigration procedures and student visas. International students are also given a separate campus tour and city tour.
  • Faculty presentation: Aims to introduce the professors and the department of study to the students choosing it, give information about the area and inspire them for a career in the field.
  • Social activities: being a part of the orientation program this component aims to encourage the students to learn more about the social and club activities going on. Students get stamps by simply attending one of the club activities or meetings. Continuing to attend the meetings and becoming a member of the club is a matter of free choice.
  • Library tour: Library is a key place for every student for research and recreational reading. Library tour being the obligatory part of the orientation program aims to ensure all new students know the location of the libraries, the basic rules for using it and are introduced to the variety of the resources available.
  • Sports activities: Attending at least one sports activity during the first semester is advised to all students, actually taking active part in the activity is not obligatory, being a spectators also counts.
  • Procession: two big processions are traditionally held every year by the university. Opening procession – marking the beginning of the academic year and spring festival procession - to open the annual spring fair.
  • Presentations: Essential presentations given by experienced professionals which include team work, university life, stress management and some other topics which are considered useful to help the newcomers accustom to university environment.
