Career Center

Welcome!

GAU takes pride in its students. We want all students studying with us, not only to be successful with us at GAU, but also in their future professional life. Our aim is to facilitate students’ search for a job and to prepare them for entering the labor market.

Counseling

Every workday from 9:00-16:00, we are more than ready to advise you in areas which will help you in preparing and finding your dream job:
Career planning,
CV writing,
Cover letter writing,
Preparation for job interviews (Role play)

Collaborations

We hold close contact with institutions in education such as the British Council and the Fulbright Commission and invite them each year during the month of March. During their presentations they explain their services to you and you have the opportunity to ask your questions.

We also work together with a variety of companies both in Turkey as well as in Cyprus who are looking for internees or graduates.

Career Development Program

At one point in your life, you will “manage” and “be managed,” whether you will be running your own private business, working for a multinational, or just running a household! Success in life depends upon your ability to deal with people and situations well!

The aim of the CDP is to teach you techniques of management, very practical material, that you can use in any kind of situation. Workshops have been held on various topics such as group decision-making techniques, preparing for an efficient meeting, and many more.

Internship

The majority of faculties at GAU do require students to take an internship before they graduate. An internship experience gives you the opportunity not only to apply your theoretical knowledge, but also to increase your chances in finding your dream job after graduation. Students can get more information about the internship from their faculty.

Usually students find a place for internship by themselves in their own country. In case you need any support in the application process, the Career Center can help you out. We also have a database of companies for you to look into.

Employment in North Cyprus

Job opportunities are very limited and usually employers give preference to those who are able to speak Turkish as well as English. We do not recommend you to work during your first year of study. If you do decide to work, then terms and conditions of work are agreed by the employer and you. The university does not involve.

As per governmental regulations, students are allowed to work 20 hours per week part-time. Students will need to register to a university first and obtain a student visa and student letter. After that students will be required to obtain a part-time work visa. This is done with the help of the employer.

On-campus jobs

Students who would like to work on-campus, need to submit their CV to the Human Resource Department at the beginning of each semester. A CV should definitely state contact details, department of study, educational background, work experience, computer skills and language skills.
Jobs are popular and limited! So do not delay!
