Editorial The GAU
Journal of Social and Applied Science Author Guidelinespublishes scholarly and original inquiries in applied and social sciences, and provides discussions of academic issues. Manuscripts will be reviewed for the significance of the problem, the originality of the contribution, the review of the relevant literature, and the adequacy and clarity of the method and arguments.
Authors are requested to submit their original manuscript electronically by sending e-mail attachments in Microsoft word to gaujournal@gau.edu.tr.
Manuscripts can be submitted in English or Turkish. Submission of a paper implies that it has not been published previously or it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
If an electronic submission is not possible, please send a disk and three hard copies of the manuscript to GAU Journal of Social and Applied Sciences, Girne American University, Mersin 10, Turkey. In this case, the content of the disk should be identical to the text in the hard copy.

Manuscript Requirements
Articles should not exceed 5000 words or 20 manuscript pages. Short communications should not exceed 1000 words or 4 manuscript pages. They should be clearly written in black ink on one side of A4 paper (210 x 297 mm). The text including references must be typed double-spaced with a 4 cm right margin. Please do not format the text, e.g., no bold, italic, tabs, etc. are allowed. Each paragraph is followed by a line break . Each page will have a page number.
Title Page
1. Manuscript title. Please limit the title to 16 words
2. Running title with a maximum of 50 characters in length
3. Complete addresses, including e-mail addresses of all authors
Abstract Page
The abstract should be easy to understand and not require reference to the body of the paper. Only very important results should be presented numerically in the abstract; it must not contain any abbreviations or statistical details. The abstract should not exceed 300 words.
Keywords
Provide a maximum of five keywords for both original contribution and review articles. There should be no overlapping with the title.
Body of Manuscript
Obligatory parts of the manuscript are Introduction and References
All chapters of the manuscript should be headed by a title. The length of the title should not exceed 60 characters. The text contains no bold or italic words and is not hyphenated. Only foreign words or scientific names are printed in italics.
Table and Figures
Tables and figures are each on a separate page with the table or figure number and the authors’ names in the right corner of the page. Please number table and figures consecutively in the order as they occur in the text. Tables should be created using table function in MS Word or tabulator in other programmes. Line drawings should be only contour drawings without halftones. Please do use only clear and reproducible patterns. Colours are not allowed. Captations of tables and figures will be provided on a separate page.
References
Each reference should confirm to the examples below, with author names separated only by a comma. Full stops should not be used in the forename initials. The name of the journal should be given in the abbreviated form, strictly following the codes in: http://library.caltech.edu/reference/abbreviations
The references should be listed in alphabetical order by the surname of the first author and should give the full title of the paper. Anonymous contributions should be cited at the beginning of the bibliography.

Citations in text:
In the running text citations should be made as in the following examples. Berocks & Bode (1999), or (Richter 1991, 1993, Stark & Schneider 2001). Up to two authors, give the names; for more than two authors, give the name of the first author followed by et al., e.g., Baklowski et al. 2001.
Reviews
The author will receive proofs via e-mail as an Acrobat PDF file which should be reviewed and returned without delay.
Online Service – GAUDIRECT
After acceptance of the manuscript for publication and review by the authors, the manuscript will be published as Acrobat PDF file within 10 days on the GAU website. This PDF file is fully citable. Hardcopies of your manuscript will be published as soon as the numbers of manuscripts per issue have been received.
